The 1966 Le Mans had gone down in history as one of the most famous victories ever, it was a grudge match, as Henry Ford II wanted to beat Enzo Ferrari in the Italians back yard. Remarkably, Ford took a clean sweep on the podium with a 1-2-3 finish with Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon winning. Ford went on to win the next 3 Le Mans. 50 years later and ford were to return to Le Mans in the all new Ford GT. The circumstances were slightly different, but the result was almost the same. In the GTE Pro racing class, two notches below the top prototype class, an all-new Ford GT outlasted a staunch challenge from Ferrari, also running an all-new 488 car. If not for Risi Competiziones efforts, Ford might have repeated the 1966 result; as it was, the team finished 1-3-4,
