The Panzer I was most definitely a product of the 1930s. Therefore, evenas WWII kicked off in September 1939 with the invasion of Poland, thePz.Kpfw.I was obsolete as a tank with its thin armor and light armamentof only two machine guns. Nonetheless, it still saw combat early in thewar. Instead, perhaps its greatest contribution to Germany’s war effortwas its basis for a whole plethora of special vehicle conversions.

Now we are gathering an assortment of several plastic kits in 1/35 scaleof these interesting Panzer I-based armored vehicles. Three excitingmodels represent the little Panzer I in quite different guises. They allshare the same intricate Panzer I-family chassis, but from there onwardsthey diverge into an array of interesting vehicle types. Theirsuperstructures and weapons are distinctly unique, and this makes eachvehicle an attractive modeling subject in its own right. They may besmall, but they are crammed with stunning detail and they’ll be a treat to assemble and paint.
