WP NH 90 RUMPFBAUSATZ f. UNI- Graupner 4468 The NH 90 is a joint development between the four nations of France, Italy, Germany and Holland, and represents a twin-engined transport helicopter of the 9-tonne class. Its primary purpose is to replace the long-serving UH-1 in all its many roles. These include troop transport for 14 to 20 fully equipped soldiers, freight transport with a payload of up to 2500 kg, and SAR tasks. At present five prototypes have beenproduced, and series production is planned for the year 2002. Our model is designed to 1 : 8.9 scale, producing a standard rotor diameter of 182 cm. This ranks the NH 90 as a member of the so-called "Heliphants" class - i.e. model helicopters with a rotor diameter above 180 cm. The suggested paint scheme and registration are those of a version which is currently in use by the German Federal Army for UNO peace missions, although the kit can also be completed in the scheme of any of the other existing prototypes. The kit is designed to accept the UNI-MECHANICS 2000 system and the OS MAX 91 FX-HGL motor, with a reduction ratio of 10:1, giving a main rotor rotational speed in the range 1100 to 1300 rpm. Access to the mechanics and internal equipment is provided by the large top hatch, which exposes almost the full width of the fuselage, as well as by the side doors. The doors can be made removable, or converted to scale sliding action. The white pigmented GRP fuselage is supplied with most window apertures and other openings machined out, and includes a large open area at the top through which the UNI-MECHANICS 2000 can be installed in the usual way, in its completely assembled form including compact silencer. The mechanical assembly is then held in place by four screws fitted into cross-pieces at the bottom, and by two further attachment points at the top. The tail rotor drive system is based on a 2 mm Ø spring steel shaft and an angle gearbox in the vertical stabiliser; the control linkage consists of a carbon fibre pushrod. Like the full-size machine, the model features a retractable tricycle undercarriage, with each leg operated by its own servo. The top fuselage hatch, the tail rotor cap and the side doors are all moulded in GRP with a high-quality, glossy white surface; if you wish to produce the suggested UN version, it is therefore not necessary to paint the fuselage. All youhave to do is apply the separately available decals, and the only painting required is the window glazing bars and the black anti-dazzle panel at the nose. The separation lines between the fuselage sections coincide with the joints in the cladding and fairing panels of the original machine - in so far as that is possible - so that the joints do not spoil the overall scale impression. As standard, the sliding doors are designed to be glued in the recesses moulded into the fuselage, but you may also opt to leave them removable or convert them into a working system. The vacuum-moulded glazing panels feature recessed edges, and are designed to be glued in the machined openings in the fuselage shell. This method does call for some minor trimming of the window apertures, but produces an impressive scale effect on the finished model.

Building instructions in German, English and French. Multi-part moulded fuselage in epoxy resin- glass fibre technology, with high-gloss white pigmented surface and nearly all openings machined out; wooden parts, pre-cut clear glazing panels, tail rotor shaft and bearings, tail rotor pushrod and bellcrank, vacuum-moulded horizontal stabiliser components, small parts.
