WP MESSERSCHMITT 323- GIGANT Graupner 6215 The Messerschmitt ME 323 had the enormous wingspan of 55 m and its huge size very soon
earned it the nickname GIGANT (Giant).
Access to the Gigants fuselage was via two
enormous nose loading doors, so that, for exam- ple, two large trucks could be driven straight into the load compartment. With an empty weight of 30 tons the Gigant could lift a cargo weighing up to 14 tons. Typical take-off weight was 54,000 kg including fuel.
The six Jumo 211 F engines were fitted with Junkers three-bladed propellers. The propellers were made of blackwood. With this power system the Gigant was able to transport extremely heavy loads after taking off from specially prepared
take-off strips. Our model of the GIGANT is a 1:33 semi-scale version of the original machine, and represents a miniature version of the worlds largest aircraft at that time. The 6 SPEED 280 miniature electric motors are fitted with semi-scale three-bladed propellers. Like the full-size aeroplane the model only requires full power for take-off and initial climb-out; for level flight the motors can be throttled back. All 6 motors are supplied from a central NC flightpack installed in the cargo compartment. The battery can be changed through the models nose loading doors which open up like the original.Impressive ground take-offs are possible from a suitably smooth take-off strip.
