WP HORNET 206, Spannweite 400 Graupner 4552 The HORNET 206 is a single-seat high-performance sailplane developed from the STANDARD-LIBELLE, fitted with water ballast tanks in the wings with a capacity of 120 litres. In contrast to the LIBELLE the HORNET is an all glass-fibre glider. At the design stage of the model we placed particular emphasis on a broad speed range. Like the full-size machine the model features trailing edge airbrakes, which make it possible to land the HORNET 206 at the smallest sites without any difficulty. The brakes are so effective that they permit extremely short and steep landing approaches. The white-pigmented ready-made epoxy fuselage is supplied with the openings for the wing joiner system accurately pre-cut. Servo plates, retract unit bulkheads and tail post are already bonded in, as are the hinge lugs for the rudder. The pivot tubes for the wheel well doors are already in place in the fuselage, i.e.to hinge the doors you just have to separate them from the fuselage and slide the pivot rods into the tubes. The wheel well doors are closed by means of torsion springs, which eliminate the problem of sagging due to “rubber fatigue”. Like the fuselage, the rudder and canopy frame are supplied as white-pigmented moulded epoxy components. Wings and tailplane are factory-covered in film. The wing joiner system components are factory-fitted in the wing roots. The canopy is accurately machine-trimmed to fit the fuselage recess.
