WP HARPOON Graupner 6265 The HARPOON is an all-GRP jet trainer manufactured using sandwich moulding techniques, supplied in a three-colour finish (orange/white/blue) as illustrated. The model is a development of its predecessor, the KANGAROO. In the HARPOON the turbine is enclosed within the fuselage, which reduces engine noise considerably. A large hatch in the underside of the fuselage provides excellent access to the turbine. One fascinating technical innovation is the models thrust vector control system, i.e. the direction of the exhaust efflux can be altered by swivelling the tail pipe. This feature permits even shorter take-off and roll-out runs, and also makes tighter turns possible. The tail pipe is moved mechanically by a servo whose signal is mixed with the elevators or a three-position switch. The tail pipe can also be fixed in the usual way if you prefer. The model is of all-moulded GRP construction using sandwich techniques. All undercarriage support bulkheads and other reinforcements are already bonded in place at the factory. These parts are cut from high-quality European plywood, some of it multi-laminated, and are exceptionally strong. The openings for the retract units, control surface linkage slots etc. are also machine-cut as standard. As with the KANGAROO the control surfaces are supplied already attached to the wings and fins using elastic flap hinges, and the servo mountings and wells are factory-prepared.
The model is designed to incorporate an optional speed brake (spoiler), and its outline is marked on the underside of the fuselage, although it can be omitted if preferred. The kit also includes all the small items required to build the model, but excludes the turbine, turbine system accessories, RC components and retract units. Operating a model with a jet engine requires a highly circumspect approach and specialised technical expertise. Please read and observe the safety notes in the operating instructions. Building instructions in German, English and French. Moulded GRP components, some pre-painted in three colours: fuselage, wing panels, fins, thrust vector control system, canopy frame, bonded-in retract unit supports, reinforcements, wing joiner sleeves etc. The kit also contains all small parts required to complete the basic airframe: linkage components, screws, pushrods, cyano glue and 5-minute epoxy. The retractable undercarriage, turbine and RC components are not included in the kit. Turbine power (throttle stick)
