WP ELEKTRO SKALAR Graupner 4475 elektro Skalar is a high-performance electric helicopter which is exceptionally flexible in terms of power plants andoverall size, and can be set up to fulfil a very wide range requirements. The model is designed to accommodate a brushless out-runner electric motor with speed regulation (= governor; constant rpm), and 5 ... 10 LiPo cells. In its basic form the model features a rotor diameter of1365 mm, and power comes from a Compact 555 / 20 V brushless out-runner motor and an 8-cell LiPo flight battery In this configuration the machine is capable of a very dynamic flying schedule including aerobatics and "3-D" manoeuvres; it is a match for any glow-powered model helicopter of similar size; a 10-cell LiPo pack instead of the 8-cell one produces an even wider margin of power for demanding (= "3-D") flying. However,it is also possible to fly the model with a relatively low-cost 5-cell LiPo battery if the Compact 555 / 18.5 V motor is used, in which case a smoother flying style suits the model better. In contrast, if you install the high-torque Compact 655 / 20 V motor, the helicopter can be fitted with longer rotor blades and flown with a rotor diameter of around 1500 mm. With a LiPo battery consisting of 8 ... 10 cells the system canbe installed in one of the numerous fuselages in the Graupner / Heim helicopter system, or completed as an open-style helicopter with the extended tail boom (80 mm longer - available separately). The flight times you can expect vary primarily according to the power plant, the flight batteries, the rotor blades you select and the mechanical set-up; as an example, you can expectaround 15 minutes with 8 x 4.8 Ah cells. Skalar elektro is based on Graupner / Heim Uni-Expert mechanics, of which many thousands are already in use, and it replaces both the Trainer UNI-E model (with Uni-Expert ELEKTRO mechanics) and the Starlet 50 Elektro, with which it is completely compatible. The flight batteries are housed inside the bottom of the chassis, in a strong, lightweight cradle consisting of machinedcarbon fibre plates, and can easily be replaced when necessary. The tall chassis and curved tail boom provide ample ground clearance for the tail rotor; the tail rotor shaft runs in a curve through the boom, which eliminates oscillation problems. With its large tail rotor diameter the helicopter exhibits excellent response around the vertical (yaw) axis; the tail rotor is driven in auto-rotation, and is actuated by a free-moving CFRP pushrod forultra-precise control. The lightweight fairing for the mechanics is moulded in GRP and is supplied already painted; it is mounted on rubber grommets to avoid vibration effects, and can be fitted and removed again quickly and simply, granting excellent access to the radio control components and the mechanical systems. The long, black eloxided tail boom is rigidly supported by four braces, and can be replaced easily and very quicklyshould it suffer damage; its length is designed to allow the use of main rotor diameters in the range 1160 to 1365 mm according to the rotor blades you select.

Comprehensive building instructions in German, English and French. Kit-form mechanics including tail rotor. Thrust bearings in main and tail rotors, auto-rotation freewheel, pushrods, GRP symmetrical-section main rotor blades, GRP tail rotor blades.
