OS MAX FT 300 Graupner 1802 Conducted by Prof. Dr. Ing. P. Demuth. Despite low ambient temperature (+2ºC) the manually started engine fired at once and ran surprisingly smoothly, without vibrations. Its noise level is comfortly low, even when the engine is operated without a muffler. In the speed range below 8000 rpm the engine develops markedly more pulling power and higher output than the smaller FT-240, the design of which is otherwise identical. Thanks to its finely adjustable carburettor and modified valve-timing the engine runs reliably in extreme flight attitudes and, in particular, its idle can be set extremely low. The FT-300 should prove the optimum choice for powering large models and glider tugs.
