IDLE-GLOW-AUTOMATIC Graupner 1690 This is an automatic glow-plug energising system for single-cylinder and twin-cylinder motors, designed to provide more stable, reliable running in the low speed range. The IDLE-GLOW-AUTOMATIC system is equipped with a MOSFET-based switch circuit which passes current to the glow-plug when the motors speed falls to about the one third point thereby increasing the temperature of the glow-plug filament. The effect of the rise in filament temperature is to cause the motor to run smoothly and idle more reliably at speeds lower than normal, even when using cold plugs. The net result is a motor which runs very reliably even at very low speeds, and which no longer threa-tens to cut at inopportune moments. The system is connected in parallel with the throttle servo via a Y-lead, No. 3936.75. The unit features a reversing switch to allow the user to reverse the direction of operation if it cuts in at the high speed range. The switching point, i.e. the motor speed at which the Idle-Glow-Automatic starts feeding current to the glow-plug at the lower speed range, is fully variable, and can be accurately set on a potentiometer.
