LiPo deep discharge protection can be relied upon to protect your valuable LiPo battery cells against "fatal" deep discharge. The speed controller is only able to measure theoverall voltage of the battery packs. If non-identical cells are used, where packs with more than 3 cells are concerned, the weakest cell can very often be damaged beyond repair. LiPo deep discharge protection, on the other hand, measures each cell individually and as such can be relied upon to provide protection against deep discharge. Furthermore, every controller is LiPo-compatible with this type of deep discharge protection. The protection circuit is connected to the multi-pole white plug connector on LiPo batteries. It automatically determines the connected number of cells and confirms this by the LEDs flashing accordingly. This circuit is also switched between receiver and speed controller. If a cell drops below a voltage of approx. 3 V, the receiver pulse is shortened so that the controller is sufficiently reduced to maintain the 3 V minimum voltage. A jumper facilitates the use of the BEC receiver power supply on controllers with the BECsystem.
