The Zimmerits a special paste-like coating that was applied on Germantanks from December 1943 till 9 September 1944. Zimmerit was designed tocover a vehicle’s metal hull sides and turret sides so that enemiescould not attach magnetic mines to them. (Ironically, Germany was theonly country in WWII to use magnetic anti-tank mines in any quantity!)Nonetheless, this textured Zimmerit gave German tanks a distinctivelook.
